The SPS recently formed an Executive Development Group to work with the Chief Executive and Trustees to quicken the pace of the Society’s development and guide the Society towards an early Extraordinary General Meeting. Currently constituted of five members, plus Chief Executive Vincent Rousselet and Trustee Colin Tuckwell, the group is meeting fortnightly. As well as actively planning and pursuing SPS development, the Group, which has diffuse and complementary formative backgrounds, is exploring how to evolve into a high-performance team.
Trustee Colin Tuckwell says: “Everybody in the Group is highly motivated to help the Society move towards its goals. But we also want to learn and have fun, whilst doing that. This is a group of highly experienced and able people, whose breadth of skills mean we can all provide leadership in appropriate situations.” The Group has not previously worked together, but have already moved quickly through formation to establish early trust and collaborative working norms.
“We are working to ensure our learning together contributes to the rejuvenation and a greater openness and desire to learn in the SPS culture: absolutely necessary for the Society if it is to have any chance of achieving its challenging goals.”
