A message from the CEO

As part of the Society’s effort to develop a closer understanding of members’ requirements and needs, I am pleased to announce that we are about to undertake some research with the entire membership base.

I have always strongly believed that strategy must be based on research and facts. As we take the Society on the next stage of its multi-decade journey (it was formed over 40 years ago, in another era when strategy was seen as having a lot to offer business and organisations), we should be no exception to that principle. Indeed, shouldn’t we lead by example?

We are seeking to define our common future with a clear view of your aspirations for, and expectations of, the Society.

In the coming weeks, you will receive a request to take part in an online survey, which will explore your current perceptions of the organisation, the value it provides to you on a personal and professional level and the services you would like to see offered as part of your membership, to enhance your experience and the value you receive from SPS.

Your feedback is critical in helping to shape our tomorrow, and you can be certain that, together with the Trustees, we will put your views and opinions at the centre of our thinking. Further, I commit to sharing with you the research findings from this exercise at our forthcoming Extraordinary General Meeting, probably at the end of January 2013.

You don’t have to wait until the email reaches you. If you’d like to contribute your comments, you can write to research@sps.org.uk  or by contact me directly on +44 (0)7710 570 554 or vincent.rousselet@sps.org.uk. Contact me, too, if you would like to contribute to the decision-making and implementation of developments that will follow the research.

I thank you in advance for your time and your views. They matter greatly and will be at the heart of the SPS’ future.

Vincent Rousselet
